This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below including hirings at R/GA, WPP, OMD China and Hearst.
Thomas Cook has overhauled its marketing division amid the exit of group marketing director Jamie Queen. The travel company confirmed that after five years Queen has decided to depart at the end of April “to pursue new challenges”.
In the UK, sales and e-commerce director Phil Gardner will now assume responsibility for UK marketing in addition to his existing commercial remit.
Le Masurier will join at the end of April from Google's Brand Studio where he nurtured a full-service in-house design team. Before that he enjoyed stints at the likes of 72andSunny, AKQA and Saatchi & Saatchi.
Helen Matthews has been promoted to chief people officer at Ogilvy UK, reporting to its chief executive Michael Frohlich. In her new role, she will work across its internal networks, the agency's wellness offering, learning and development.
We Are Pi
Lester has been brought on to connect the dots across We Are Pi's strategy product and will work closely with founder and chief executive, Alex Bennett-Grant.
Encore Digital Media
Encore Digital Media has appointed John Perry as head of finance to lead and grow the team. Perry joins from publishing specialist, Dennis Publishing, where he was digital director for brands.
The former creative strategy director at MailOnline, Mark McCafferty, has joined Hearst UK as its newly-created head of partnerships. McCafferty will oversee the Hearst Create and branded content team.
Sizmek has appointed Paul Wright as general manager EMEA. He will be responsible for the company’s regional go-to-market strategy, new business development, client acquisition and customer success efforts
The Ozone Project
The Ozone Project has appointed Sophie Raptis as client director. She will be managing relationships with brands and joins the team following her role as advertising client director at News UK.
IAB Europe has appointed Patrick Verdon as technical director and Helen Mussard as marketing and business strategy director. In these newly-created roles, Verdon and Mussard join the organisation as it continues its mission to enable digital advertising to support media plurality and Europe’s digital economy.
BBH London has hired Martha Riley as its first head of creative. The newly-created role Riley will support chief creative officer, Ian Heartfield, in looking after the career management, progression and well-being of our its creative department.
Immediate Media Co.
Immediate Media Co has appointed Scott Deutrom as advertising managing director. He will take the strategic lead for all Immediate’s advertising revenue streams across print and digital and Immediate's creative and content studio, Imagine.
The former chief executive of Publicis Media, Iain Jacob, has been appointed to the Inskin Board as a non-executive director. Jacob's current roles include: chair of Cinema First; chair-designate of UKOM, digital advisory board member of Save the Children UK, digital investor and holder of a number of technology company advisory positions.
Pride in London
Pride in London has appointed Dan O’Gorman as its strategic partnerships director. O’Gorman will oversee all relationships with the organisation’s sponsors and brand partners.
Shopper Media Group
Anna Lenart has become the marketing director for digital out-of-home business, Shopper Media Group. Lenart was the media hub manager for Woolworths at Result Marketing Group.
After acting as Zenith Sydney's general manager for eight months, Jonny Cordony has taken the role permanently. He will replace Angela Swayn who resigned from her role after taking maternity leave.
Megan Brownlow has stepped down from her position as PwC partner, national industry leader for technology, media and telecommunications.
Jun Xu has left Unilever to join MSL as chief executive. He will lead operations and strategic development.
OMD China has hired Sadhan Mishra to the role of managing director for its Shanghai office. He will also oversee the agency’s continued delivery of service excellence and market-leading innovation for its existing and new clients.
Octagon has hired Joanne Warnes as agency director, Singapore. She will head up all local agency operations and oversee major clients, with a remit to drive new business.
WPP’s Government and Public Sector Practice has appointed Michael Harris as executive director, Australia and New Zealand. Harris will be based in Sydney and replaces Kathryn Cooper who has returned to the US
Madwell has hired Alice Too as managing director in its recently opened Hong Kong office. She most recently spent three years with Activation Group, where she led their branding and advertising business unit.
VMLY&R Brisbane has made a number of senior appointments. Guilherme Pecego has been appointed to the newly-created role of associate creative director, while Mignon van Weeren has been named director of broadcast and content.
TBWA\Singapore has appointed Mandy Wong as managing partner. She will be responsible for building the company's multiple disciplines.
Mediacom's Priya Choudhary has been promoted to head of Mediacom West. In her new role, Choudhary will be leading Mediacom’s Mumbai office.
Lotame has promoted Luke Williams to managing director, ANZ. Previously, serving as the commercial director, in his new role, he will spearhead ongoing and new partnerships.
Geometry Global has named Beth Ann Kaminkow, current chief executive of Kantar Consulting Americas, as its new global chief executive. She will take over from outgoing WPP veteran Steve Harding from next month.
The Many has hired Davis Jones as managing director, media services. In this new role for the agency, Jones’ primary task will be to continue expanding the agency’s media group.
Highsnobiety has appointed Paul Kelly as chief revenue officer. In this role, Kelly will oversee the company’s brand partnerships and advertising business in the U.S.
Gyro has appointed Kevin Fraser to serve as the company’s first-ever head of precision in the US. In this role, Fraser is charged with overseeing the strategic efforts for gyro’s clients and U.S. media operation.
M&C Saatchi LA
M&C Saatchi LA has hired Norman Brown as creative director. Brown joins the agency’s creative leadership and will work alongside M&C Saatchi LA executive creative director, Maria Smith.
Digital Current has hired Jason Prentice as chief operating officer, replacing Scott Elser, who steps into the role of chief executive officer.
Standard Black has hired Scott Niemczura as creative director. In his new role, he will oversee art direction and copy on projects across the agency portfolio.
