This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move

KP Snacks

KP Snacks has appointed Kevin McNair, formerly of Britvic, as its new marketing director.

McNair left Britvic, where he was Great Britain marketing director, earlier this year. There he handled brands including Robinsons and J2O and led the launch of Purdey’s and R Whites. Before that he held roles at Unilever and Whitbread.

United Nations

Previously global director of corporate communications at Geometry, Selinde Dulckeit will join the United Nations as head of media and communication at the UN Population Fund.

The UN Population Fund is a unit focused on assuring the sexual and reproductive rights of women and girls around the world.

Joe Media

Joe Media has made a raft of new senior appointments. Joe has brought in Dilraj Athwal as brand and strategy director. Dilraj joins from Samsung, where he was marketing manager across its UK TV and Audio division. Its football channel is run now by Matt Stanger who recently returned to the brand. Tom Park joins as creative director for Football Joe from Unscriptd. Jack Homan joins as head of design from ITN.

Luke Nemorin and Trevor Poulsum, formerly of Tab Media and Oath respectively join as brand partnership directors. Finally, James Wilkins has been promoted to executive creative director, where he will oversee all creative output across commercial and work closely with head of content Evan Fanning, to ensure seamless alignment between editorial and commercial departments. Finally, Rebecca Fennelly moves to the role of head of brand and communications.

Brass

Leeds based creative marketing agency Brass has expanded its PR team with four new hires, following a spate of new business wins.

Collectively bringing more than 20 years of PR experience, Kiran Watson has joined as an account director, Danielle Stott as an account manager and Jenny Marston and Cathy Skelton as account executives.

The & Partnership

Oliver Feldwick has been promoted to global head of innovation for The & Partnership. Previously head of digital strategy, Feldwick has been tasked with future-proofing the network across all markets and departments, and make use of innovative new technologies.

Jungle Creations

Jungle Creations has hired three new hires, including The Guardian’s Charlotte Emmerson, who will take on the company’s first chief marketing officer role.

Alongside Emmerson, Jonathan Kitchen, who formerly worked at Brave Bison will join as commercial director. Time Out’s James Evans will also come on board as chief financial officer.

WRG

WRG has appointed Jonathan Atkin as senior producer. In his new role, Atkin will provide additional resource to the UK Live team, working across all clients with an employee engagement and B2B focus.

Red Badger

Keven Jenkins, formerly managing director of Visa UK and Ireland, and Dr Chris Brauer, director of innovation at Goldsmiths, have joined the advisory board of digital consultancy, Red Badger.

Stack

Stack has appointed Merkle’s Andy O’Brien and Ian Skinner to expand its management team. O’Brien will join as head of data planning and Skinner will become head of data science.

The Specialist Works

Independent media agency The Specialist Works has hired Katie Lobina as trading director on the agency's board. Alongside this, James Olney has been appointed head of data and analytics.

Before joining the agency, Lobina was commercial director at PMX, and Olney was data strategy director at Havas Group.

APAC people on the move

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has promoted long-serving staffer Jill Kluge to chief marketing officer as it prepares for the retirement of Michael Hobson at the end of the year.

Currently, director of brand communications, Kluge joined the group in 1991 and has held a number of sales and marketing positions across its UK and APAC offices.

Hotstar

Hotstar has appointment Sameer Kapoor as vice president-agency ad sales. In his new role, Kapoor will be responsible for driving the relationship with media agencies to deliver measurable and impactful media strategy for clients through Hotstar.

Nokia

Nokia has appointed Jae Won as the head of Asia Pacific and Japan.

In his new role, Jae will oversee all of Nokia’s networks business and operations in the region spanning the diverse territories of Japan, Korea, Oceania, and the fast-growing South East Asian countries.

Reuter

Reuter Communications has bolstered its leadership with two general manager appointments - Charmaine Lin and Shashin Surti.

Both will work alongside founder and CEO, Chloe Reuter, and managing partner, Nick Cakebread, to oversee the agency’s key client relationships, drive business growth and expand service capabilities across its Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai offices.

Australian Football League

Australian Football League has appointed Sarah Wyse as head of AFL Media Network.

In her new role, she will oversee the core news, content, creative and production teams of the AFL’s news, digital and creative business – AFL Media.

Opr

The WPP-owned company has announced a new management structure that incorporates the introduction of a new chief growth officer and managing partners in its specialist business practices.

Jacquie Potter, currently the managing director of Opr Melbourne, moves into the newly created role of chief growth officer.

The new managing partners are Beck Crawford, managing partner, Melbourne; Fiona Forbes and Nino Tesoriero, managing partner, corporate, Marie-Claire Maple, managing partner, business to business, Megan Caulfield, managing partner, employee experience, Rachel Stanton, managing partner, behavioural change and life agency and Tania Jayesuria, managing partner, health.

72andSunny Singapore

The creative agency has hired Daniel Ko as creative director, Isaac Tan as a writer and Scott Miao, senior designer.

J. Walter Thompson

J. Walter Thompson has appointed Joyce Ling as chief strategy officer (CSO) - for Greater China and she will oversee the agency’s strategic and brand planning across China. She reports to Carter Chow, chief executive officer of J. Walter Thompson China.

Fiftyfive5

Fiftyfive5 has hired Estelle Gohil and Philippa Dougall as senior qualitative consultants, alongside AndreyFedoseev, Jarrod Rust and Jordan McVaigh as new senior account managers.

Ken Choi has been appointed as director of Fiftyfive5 Singapore. Elise Bliss has been hired in the newly created role of chief financial officer and Natalie Briski in a business administration role.

Merkle

Merkle has appointed Ted Stites as managing director of Australia and New Zealand. The appointment is effective immediately and is in addition to Stites’ current role as executive vice president for customer experience and marketing technology solutions in APAC.

Interbrand Australia

The Omnicom-owned agency has appointed former New York-based Interbrand chief communications officer Paola Norambuena to the position of chief strategy officer (CSO).

Norambuena has been lured home to Sydney to further grow Interbrand Australia’s brand experience capabilities.

David&Goliath

LA shop David&Goliath has hired a trio of creatives, including its first-ever head of art and design in former CP+B creative design director Marc Schwarzberg. Frauke Tiemann has been named as group creative director (GCD), and Mark Koelfgen taking the role of executive creative director.

The new staffers have been brought in primarily to strengthen the work for Kia Motors, the creative agency’s founding and largest client.

NBA

The NBA has hired Ralph Rivera as managing director of NBA Europe and Middle East (NBA EME).

Rivera has been scheduled to start on Jan 2, 2019, and has oversight of the league’s basketball and business development throughout Europe and the Middle East and has support from existing regional leadership to grow the sport’s popularity.

Pandora

Streaming audio company Pandora has appointed Brad Minor as vice president, head of brand marketing and communications.

He will be responsible for defining Pandora’s brand positioning to listeners and the industry together with the brand marketing, communications, experiential and social media teams.

McCann

McCann Detroit has hired Brad Emmett as the agency’s chief creative officer.

Emmett will bring a wealth of experience to his new role, having worked for major brands such as Pepsi, Fiat and JBL. This pedigree has already been recognised at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity and the Clio Awards.

Snap

Snap has poached Amazon's global head of ad sales Jeremi Gorman to take on the role of chief business officer. Her appointment coincides with the hire of ex-Huffington post chief executive Jared Grusd who will fill the chief strategy officer position left vacant by Imran Khan.

Landor

Branding consultancy Landor has expanded its chief creative officer Peter Knapp’s role to include chairman – on the announcement he outlined a commitment to keep branding at the centre of client transformation in the agency.

The group, credited with the classic Levi’s, FedEx, Coke, British Airways, LG and WWF branding, has promoted the 25-year-veteran to further build out its credentials in service design, branded tech, and innovation.

AKQA

AKQA has appointed Andrew Walter as director of delivery in the San Francisco studio. Andrew will oversee the Project Management department and join the Executive Leadership Team.

Universal Music Group

Jaime Weston has been appointed executive vice president of consumer marketing for Universal Music Group (UMG). In this newly created global role, Weston will be expected to develop targeted marketing strategies to grow the global audience for UMG’s artists across platforms, products and initiatives.

FCB Montreal

FCB Montreal has hired Sylvain Dufresne as vice president and head of creative, where he will oversee the creative department, effective immediately.

After holding similar roles at Publicis and lg2, Dufresne will lead creative for Quebec and/or Canada on brands like Air Canada, BMO, Belairdirect, BMW and the recently awarded Home Depot.

Geometry

TraceyLocke veteran Tyler Murray has joined WPP’s commercial marketing agency, Geometry, as the new North American president.

The current president Scott McCallum will be elevated to Geometry NA chief executive where he will focus on long-term vision and overall strategy.

Duncan Channon

San Francisco independent advertising agency Duncan Channon has hired John Kovacevich as executive creative director.

Kovacevich joins Duncan Channon after three and a half years as a freelance creative director and writer.
