This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move

Dennis

Dennis, the publishing group with over 30 brands including The Week and Cyclist, has hired Wired UK’s former digital editor Victoria Woollaston to head up its flagship technology brand, Alphr.com.

As editorial director, Woollaston will manage the Alphr.com editorial team and work closely with the other tech brands within the Dennis portfolio, including IT Pro, Cloud Pro and Expert Reviews.

Target

Target chief communications officer Dustee Jenkins, formerly director of communications at HUD, has become the latest executive to depart amidst a shakeout of the retailers management team to make room for new blood.

Jenkins has given the last seven years of her life to the big box retailer but will now stand aside in favour of her deputy, communications vice president Katie Bolan.

SpotX

SpotX has hired Affiperf co-founder Sebastian Robin as its managing director in France.

Robin, who will be based in Paris, will join the video ad serving platform charged with growing its European operations and driving the commercial success of the business.

Telegraph Media Group

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has promoted Nick Hugh, the company's chief operating officer of less than six months, to the role of chief executive, as Murdoch MacLennan moves into a deputy chairman role.

Hugh joined the Telegraph in January this year as the publisher's first ever chief operating officer, a role that has seen him assume responsibility for all TMG's revenue streams and commercial operations.

Vice

Vice is looking to power up its creative offering by hiring Rob Newlan to the position of chief executive EMEA of its Virtue Worldwide creative agency.

Newlan, formerly EMEA regional director of Facebook, will lead operations across the agency’s 18 European offices and will also spearhead its launch in the Middle East and India.

The Drum

Patrick Collister has joined The Drum as creative contributing editor, a role that will see the industry stalwart contribute regular blogs and curate the title’s coverage of the creative sector’s intersection with technology.

Collister, previously executive creative director and vice chairman of Ogilvy & Mather, is currently creative lead in The Zoo EMEA at Google.

Derby

Eli ASh has joined Derby as senior producer to oversee the agency's partners.

Joining from Complex Media, where she was supervising producer, Eli has worked on both broadcast television and commercial.

FinchFactor

Sarah Taylor has joined FinchFactor as global client service director.

Taylor joins the company as it works to further its expansion into North America.

Time Out

Lawrence Horne has joined Time Out as managing director of commercial, EMEA.

In a bid to further grow relationships, Horne will be overseeing all advertising verticals the publication has to offer.

APAC people on the move

TBWA

TBWA\Worldwide have promoted Philip Brett from president, TBWA\Asia to chief operating officer, TBWA\Worldwide.

He will be replaced by Ian Pearman, chief executive officer, AMVBBDO, who will take over Brett’s role as president, TBWA\Asia.

These appointments are the latest senior management changes for TBWA and follow the appointment of Chris Garbutt as chief creative officer last month.

Possible

Anurag Gupta has joined Possible as chief growth officer.

In his new role, Gupta will work closely with the global and Asia Pacific teams to drive the agency's offering.

Y&R Hong Kong

Wai Khuen has joined Y&R Hong Kong as executive creative director.

With more than 15 years experience in creative advertising, Khuen explained he is excited to explore his Cantonese heritage in his new role.

USA People on the move

Verizon

Verizon has officially completed its $4.5bn acquisition of Yahoo, with the latter's former chief executive Marissa Mayer resigning as part of the process.

The completion comes months after it was confirmed that Verizon will merge Yahoo with its AOL assets to form a subsidiary called Oath; a fresh proposition which will be let be ex-AOL chief Tim Armstrong.

Gyro

Gyro has hired Angela Kyle to take on the newly created role of head of new business development in the US.

She joins from Omnicom brand consultancy Wolff Olins, where she served as head of new business for North America. In her new role, she will be tasked with leading new business efforts, cross-network collaboration and partnerships for Gyro in the US.

Dentsu Aegis US

Dentsu Aegis Network has today (13 June) announced the departure of US chief executive Rob Horler, who leaves after 17 years with the group.

In classic C-suite fashion, Horler is stepping down to ‘pursue new opportunities’. Nigel Morris, chief executive of Dentsu Aegis Network Americas, will assume the role in the interim, while a long-term successor is expected to be announced shortly.
