The change at the top, the most senior marketing position at the retailer, was first revealed in a staff memo yesterday and has now been confirmed in an official statement.
An Under Armour spokesperson said: “Adrienne Lofton has decided to pursue another opportunity outside of Under Armour and we wish her all the best in her next endeavor. During her nine-year tenure, Adrienne has contributed significantly to the growth of the company. As part of UA’s long-term succession planning, Attica Jaques will now lead the global brand management team.”
Jacques made a name for herself at Under Armour after crafting the brands ‘Unlike Any’ campaign which depicted female athlete’s success in the face of unwarranted comparisons.
Under Armour has weathered a turbulent few months since CEO Kevin Plank courted controversy by publicly backing US president Donald Trump. It also lost content director Karen Goodman to Havas Chicago, where she now serves as group creative director.
