Octavia Spencer makes a thunderous entry as Mother Nature in Apple ad
The actor stars in a dramatic spot that reviews the tech giant’s commitment to sustainability.
In a new ad from Apple, American actor Octavia Spencer portrays ‘Mother Nature,’ grilling execs including boss Tim Cook on its efforts to become fully carbon neutral by 2023 – and she is a force to be reckoned with.
During the comedically tense meeting, Spencer questions the suits on a range of topics, such as clean energy, materials and transportation. Viewers can feel their nervousness as Mother Nature scrutinizes their efforts one by one.
The five-minute short was created in-house and directed by Rhys Thomas of Stink Films.
Apple hasn’t shied away from using humor and long-form videos to communicate important, often dry information. Last year, it doubled down on its privacy controls with a fake auction house ad and its widely-praised ‘The Underdogs’ spot came in at nine minutes long.
