Kevin the Carrot lands in hot water for latest Aldi role

Airing tomorrow on ITV at 17:30 the Christmas teaser finds Kevin confront an angry bunch of Brummie sprouts led by Russell Sprout as the ‘Leafy Blinders’ gang seeks to turn their orange nemesis into a salad.

At the root of this confrontation is boiling anger among the Brummie battalion at being left languishing at the bottom of the Christmas dinner pecking order, prompting them to try and bring Kevin down to size with a grater.

Sean McGinty, marketing director at Aldi UK, said: “We’re all thrilled to see Kevin back on our screens again, getting up to his usual tricks. Kevin’s popularity grows every year and he’s becoming something of a national treasure! Kevin’s magical Big Top is the perfect environment to showcase the amazing quality of the Aldi Christmas range of food and drink this year.”

Dave Price, executive creative director of McCann Manchester, said: “I happen to know Kevin was very nervous ahead of his performance this year, but my word, who would have thought he was so talented? He puts on an amazing performance. There’s a great deal of quality on display here that will keep your mouth watering in the run-up to Christmas.”

Kevin the Carrot has become a staple dish in Aldi’s Christmas fare since his first appearance in 2016.
