Walkers bags Mariah Carey for full-throated Christmas ad
Walkers crisps has enlisted US superstar Mariah Carey to reprise her holiday favourite ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ as it looks to corner the festive snack market.
In the spot by AMV BBDO, Carey is seen belting out the timeless classic amid a stereotypical Christmas setting but things go off script when the star becomes embroiled in a tug of war with a hungry elf for the last bag of Walkers Pigs in Blankets on set.
An ensuing battle of wills sees Carey emerge victorious with a full-throated vocal punch which knocks out everyone within earshot. Ever generous, Carey graciously offers a solitary crisp to the crestfallen elf although once again he is left disappointed in the cruel final twist.
Carey said: “I had a lot of fun filming this commercial with Walkers. I’ve always loved their crisps from my trips to the UK and everyone knows I love feeling festive so it was the perfect collaboration for me.”
Carey has previously backed Deutsche Telecom after appearing in five concerts simultaneously - albeit in hologram form.
