Indian mobile network Jio sees user base continue to ascend ahead of its rivals

Jio added 37 million subscribers at the end of September quarter, taking its total user base to 252.25 million.

India’s third-largest mobile network Reliance Jio saw the most increase in users compared to its rivals from July to September 2018.

This is according to data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), which found that Jio added 37 million subscribers at the end of September quarter, taking its total user base to 252.25 million.

In comparison, Bharti Airtel’s users dropped to 347.52 million after losing a million users and the largest mobile network in India, Vodafone Idea saw a huge drop of 8.35 million users, leaving it with 435.22 million users.

The decrease in users meant that except for Jio, the other three mobile operators, including BSNL, saw their adjusted gross revenue (AGR) declined 13.26% year on year to Rs.36,142 crore ($5 million).

Reliance's music-streaming platform Jio-Saavn beat out Google to become the only audio streaming media company to make gains on app installs with 1.24% share increase during the first quarter of 2018.
