Under Armour alights on former Tommy Hilfiger marketer for CMO role

The appointment dovetails with that of Anna Funai as senior vice president of engineering and comes as the manufacturer seeks to compete with established rivals such as Nike and Adidas.

De Pestel arrives having spent 11 years in top marketing roles at leading PVH brands Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein and will relocate to Under Armour’s Baltimore base, reporting to president and COO Patrik Frisk.

Chairman and CEO Kevin Plank wrote: “We’re excited to welcome Alessandro and Ann to the Under Armour team, two talented senior executives who will help us connect even more deeply with our consumers through powerful engagements and premium experiences.

“The diversity of their global experience and insights will enrich and advance our marketing and digital capabilities to deliver an even more seamless experience to our consumers—whenever and wherever they engage the Under Armour brand.”

De Pestel supplants former CMO Andrew Donkin who quit last December following a poor run of results.
