London-based That Lot was founded in 2014 by creative director David Levin, managing director David Beresford and writer and comedian David Schneider, whose credits include The Day Today and The Death of Stalin.

It has 67 staff in creative, design, writing and video roles, and styles itself as helping “brands and broadcasters be better at social”. Clients have included Channel 4, B&Q, Jamie Oliver and Have I Got News for You.

“That Lot are at the forefront of creating innovative and compelling social creative for a range of brands and businesses,” said Andy Polansky, chief executive of Weber Shandwick. "This new partnership is another example of how we continue to add creative firepower in the UK and beyond.”

Terms of the deal have not been revealed but That Lot will retain its own brand and aim for global growth as part of the Weber Shandwick fold.

“It was obvious to us that Weber Shandwick excels at creating engaging campaigns fueled by world-class audience research, strategy and data,” said co-founder Levin. “That's why we felt they were the perfect partner to help us continue to develop and globalise our business.”

The move represents Weber Shandwick’s latest effort to ramp up its multi-platform capabilities following the acquisitions of London-based mobile firm Flipside in 2016, New York-based digital shops Bomoda and Resolute in 2017 and Brazilian digital marketing and technology specialist Cappuccino in May this year.

The PR network has offices in 78 cities worldwide and is part of the Interpublic Group, which also owns McCann, Lowe and Partners, and FCB.
