The Colonel is making an appearance on 'General Hospital' to celebrate National Fried Chicken Day

To celebrate the “holiday,” the Colonel is making a guest appearance in ABC’s long-running soap opera ‘General Hospital’ today, Friday, July 6. According to KFC, Colonel Sanders “flexes his computer coding skills and asks longtime friend Maxie for a favor involving his 11 secret herbs and spices” in the episode. KFC shared an “exclusive sneak peek” of the episode with Entertainment Weekly.

The fried chicken chain has been promoting his guest appearance on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, while the Colonel himself has also been “live tweeting” ‘General Hospital’ episodes in recent days.

Despite all the hype, KFC isn’t offering any in-store promotions for the holiday, but its competitors aren’t missing the opportunity. Rival Popeyes is celebrating the day by keeping select restaurants in California and Brooklyn open for 24 hours.

And to celebrate both its 41st birthday and National Friend Chicken Day, Bojangles is sending a $5 off coupon to those who tweet #ItsBoTime with the chicken wing emoji. The chain’s tweet about the offer includes a dig at KFC:
