UberEats has secured Italy legend Andrea Pirlo in a campaign where he considers what team to support at the World Cup – in the absence of his home nation.

The campaign kicks off with Soccer AM presenter John 'Fenners' Fendley rubbing salt in Pirlo's wounds regarding the absence of the mighty Italians. Later iterations will see former players Cafu, Marcel Desailly and Harry Kewell try to convince the maestro to support their nations instead.

Helping to foot the bill, McDonald's is integrated with the ad, promoting the fact it is one of the products that can be ordered on the food delivery app.

The work from Pitch is running globally, and looks to boost football fan engagement in key international markets.

Adam Raincock, managing partner of Pitch Marketing Group, said: "The #teamforpirlo campaign builds on our great football credentials and was conceived and produced entirely in-house. To see it being rolled out across 26 markets globally is a proud moment for the agency."
