Former Google engineer sues contending discrimination against white, conservative, men

James Damore came to international attention last year when it emerged he had authored a controversial internal memo asserting that biological causes could be attributed to gender inequality in the technology industry, views which promptly got him fired for perpetuating gender stereotypes.

Damore is going to court alongside David Gudeman, a fellow former white, male employee fired over an online confrontation with a Muslim co-worker, in a proposed class action lawsuit in California contending unfair dismissal.

The lawsuit reads: “Damore, Gudeman, and other class members were ostracized, belittled, and punished for their heterodox political views, and for the added sin of their birth circumstances of being Caucasians and/or males.”

In response to the legal threat Google said: “We look forward to defending against Mr. Damore’s lawsuit in court.”

The pair are demanding compensation and a ban on discrimination against individuals with conservative beliefs should their action be successful.
