Newly launched Will Packer Media acquires creative and tech agency Narrative

New York-based creative and tech agency Narrative has been acquired by Will Packer Media, a newly launched production and branded content company that counts Discovery Communications and Universal Pictures as investors.

Producer Will Packer, whose movies include ‘The Wedding Ringer,’ ‘Stomp the Yard’ and the recent hit ‘Girls Trip,’ is serving as chief executive of Will Packer Media, which will specialize in producing scripted and unscripted series across television and digital platforms. The newly formed entity also plans to build a “consumer-facing digital destination” that will offer up short-form content for younger audiences.

With the acquisition of Narrative, which was co-founded by Russell Simmons in 2013, the company will also have the ability to create branded content for clients. Chief executive of Narrative Tricia Clarke-Stone will now serve as Will Packer Media’s head of brand studio, where she will be tasked with leading all brand initiatives.

“Will has developed a flawless reputation over the past decade for creating entertainment that crosses demographics and influences the culture at large. We are excited to join this team, and to take the knowledge, creativity, and innovation that we've developed at Narrative to even more audiences and brands,” said Clarke-Stone in a statement.

Since its founding four years ago, Narrative has worked with brands including Santo Mezquila, Showtime, JCPenney and Under Armour. The agency will now go by the name WP Narrative.
