Vietnam Idol producer BHD signs deal with SpotX

BHD is a media business that runs production, cinema exhibition, pay TV channels and VOD channels. It is responsible for high profile content, such as Vietnam’s Idol, Vietnam’s Got Talent, Master Chef, Amazing Race, The Price is Right, Ugly Betty, Home Improvement and Name That Tune.

The deal will hand SpotX responsibility for managing the programmatic monetisation and automated direct selling of BHD video inventory, including VOD and Pay TV, globally.

Andy Yap, director of platform services, JAPAC at SpotX, said: “BHD are setting themselves up as one of the innovators in the JAPAC market, and the first in Vietnam, to transition to modern video monetisation techniques. In doing so, they’re setting themselves up to access additional demand as well as maximise fill rates and CPMs across different platforms and screens.”

For BHD, the deal will allow it to sell deals across mobile, desktop, TV and VOD services, as well as on third party websites that house its content.

A BHD spokesperson, said: “Programmatic will help us scale our operation significantly in the rapidly developing Vietnamese market as well as across global opportunities. Vietnam is quickly becoming one of the highest video consuming countries in the Asia region. We will deploy advanced ad serving techniques and programmatic enablement to decrease latency and maximize yield across the country’s rapidly growing online video audience.”

SpotX has been ramping up deals in the APAC region, last year signing a deal with Anypoint Media, which took programmatic TV to South Korea for the first time.
