Morrisons and Amazon have signed up to an ambitious collaboration programme which will see the supermarket chain install over 1,000 Amazon pick-up lockers in locations such as shopping centres, convenience stores, airports, train stations, and universities.

Each secure drop off point will provide online purchasers with a convenient point to pick up their goods, saving the need to wait in on the postman during the working day.

John Tagawa, Amazon’s vice president of UK Operations, said: "Amazon Lockers are the delivery option of choice for many customers who want to pick up their shopping at a time and place that suits them best. Morrisons supermarkets are ideal locations for Amazon Lockers which allow people to pick up their parcels while on the move.”

Amazon customers simply need to present a unique barcode which they can enter manually or scan to unlock a steel locker and retrieve their goods, offering Amazon a vital real world presence and offering potentially higher footfall for Morrisons.
