Hertz chooses MEC as North American media agency
Car rental company Hertz has chosen WPP’s MEC as its media agency of record in the US, Canada and Latin America.

According to MEC, the win follows a “media pitch which consolidates media investment, planning, strategy, digital, SEM, SEO, mobile, analytics and insight, and affiliate marketing with one agency.”
Florida-based FKQ Advertising was the incumbent agency for Hertz’s media planning and buying. MEC’s sister agency Mindshare, which is also part of WPP’s media investment group GroupM, handles Hertz’s media planning and buying account in Europe.
Of MEC’s appointment, Hertz’s EVP and chief marketing officer Matt Jauchius said: “We’ve determined that MEC is the right media planning and buying partner for Hertz Global and our portfolio of brands. We look forward to tapping their strategic planning, creativity and best-in-class analytics and insights capabilities in the digital space as we go to market in support of our Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty brands.”
Jauchius joined Hertz last year following a five-year stint as Nationwide’s chief marketing officer. He left Nationwide shortly after it was criticized for its ‘dead boy’ Super Bowl ad.
