West Ham'll make you ham-fisted with these 'Farewell Boleyn Foam Stadium' gloves
London football team West Ham United has upped the absurdity of the league’s already boundary-pushing merchandising and sponsorships (see Manchester United tractors/Liverpool coconut water).
The official West Ham Store has released a ‘Farewell Boleyn Foam Stadium’ arena-shaped foam mitten. For £6, West Ham fans can turn their pentadactyl limbs into useless foam-arena mittens.
There is some method in the madness: the Hammers will soon be departing the Boleyn Ground, home to the club since 1904. From the end of the season, West Ham will be moving to the Olympic Stadium based in Stratford, to make full use of its 54,000 seat capacity.
The gloves have been fingered as a touching way to commemorate the move.
