Hasbro has u-turned on its controversial decision to exclude Star Wars: The Force Awakens protagonist Rey from the branding of its Star Wars Monopoly.

Earlier this week fans of The Force Awakens star Rey took to Twitter to demand her inclusion on the packaging and in the game, sending the requests directly to Hasbro.

Some pointed out that the inclusion of Darth Vader on the box – who doesn’t even star in the latest movie – was of further annoyance.

The games developer issued a statement addressing fans' concern.

The company made the claim that Rey was originally excluded from the branding to avoid spoilers before the movie’s release.

They said: "Rey was not included to avoid revealing a key plot line that she takes on Kylo Ren and joins the Rebel Alliance."
