Google, according to both Buzzfeed and The Wall Street Journal, is gearing up to launch a program that would allow users to connect with home service providers such as handymen, plumbers and electricians.

The articles cite “two people familiar with the matter” who say that the official announcement will be made at Google’s annual advertiser summit this May.

The search engine has been pushing to expand its services in recent years by offering special search options for things like flights, hotels, insurance, and general products.

However, it faces major competition in all these arenas given the popularity of websites like Amazon, Kayak and Priceline.

For its newest venture, Google is likely to face competition from Yelp, which already provides customers with information about local vendors, including electricians, plumbers, and handymen.
