Germany's World Cup semi-final domination breaks Eurosport website records

Eurosport.com had an all-time record of 8.4m daily website viewers after Germany’s historic victory over Brazil in the FIFA World Cup 2014 which drastically boosted the online audience.

Eurosport is available in 54 countries, in 20 different languages

More than six million fans connected online to follow the coverage, while over two million did so via mobile. Viewers and brands discussed the historic result on Twitter in the most watched match of the tournament so far.

The Arabic version of the Eurosport website achieved its best performance ever with 371,626 visitors. Furthermore, the German version beat previous digital record by 100,000 to reach 819,869.

Jean-Thierry Augustin, CEO of Eurosport Group, said: “This digital achievement consolidates Eurosport’s place as the number one digital platform in Europe. At the beginning of 2014 we set the ambitious goal to break the eight million barrier and we have broken it by a considerable margin.

“This record affirms our ability to draw fans to our quality coverage through the strength of our editorial content and our sporting credibility.”

With the final between Germany and Argentina coming up on Sunday, Eurosport anticipates another record-breaking evening.

The website provides a live hub, running 24/7 enabling fans to follow the final as it happens with live written commentaries, interviews, videos, articles and all the latest news.

Additionally, José Mourinho provides analysis of the matches on Eurosport Yahoo! co-branded websites in the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain.
