Samsung screens

Samsung secures Leo Burnett

Global wins

Samsung Electronics has picked Leo Burnett to lead its visual display business, expanding its relationship with the agency in a move that owner Publicis Groupe will be hoping underscores the appeal of its 'power of one' ideal.

Shell has settled its global commercial agency roster as follows. Doremus, Edelman, Geometry, H+K Strategies, Mirum, VCCP, VCCP Retail and Wunderman. MediaCom is to handle buying.

Greenpeace has hired First Lady, the creative innovation agency based in Stockholm and backed by Mr President.

EMEA wins

Barclaycard has moved its creative business out of Iris and AKQA after appointing Droga5 as its lead creative agency.

Pernod Ricard’s Havana Club rum has secured independent creative agency Impero as its key strategic and creative partner. The agency will be responsible for taking the Cuban rum in a new direction by putting street-culture at the heart of the brand in order to establish its leadership within the category.

Royal Brunei Airlines has hired PR specialist 8020 Communications to handle UK and Ireland comms. The firm is tasked with biding for a larger slice of the long-haul market to Asia and Australia.

Revolution Bars has appointed Social Chain as its lead social agency. It will support the group's opening of six new bars over the next 12 months.

CharityJob, the leading website for charity, not for profit and voluntary jobs has appointed Engine to create a digital marketing and communications campaign following a competitive pitch process.

Thriva, the personalised health service, has today announced a partnership with creative partner 18 Feet & Rising to scale its brand and support the roll-out of its products across the UK.

British surf-brand Finisterre has hired Red Hot Penny as retail marketing specialists to build its purpose-based marketing and drive e-commerce growth.

APAC wins

Autotrader, the new digital trading platform for selling cars, has appointed Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney following a competitive pitch. The new business win sees the agency take on creative duties as the brand looks to disrupt the car trading market.

Lazada Singapore has hired Mutant Communications as its official PR agency. The digital retailer is based in Southeast Asia, helping more than 80,000 local and international sellers - including Alibaba’s Taobao Collection and 2,500 brands - serve millions of consumers across the region.

Amart Furniture has hired Y&R Brisbane as lead creative agency of record. It will reposition the brand. It will be responsible for all Amart Furniture creative duties across brand, retail, digital and in-store. The brand also hired Ikon Brisbane to handle digital and media duties.

Bedmaker Harrison Spinks has appointed Alchemy Media to handle its £1.5m media account following a four-way pitch.

US wins

Independent digital creative agency AnalogFolk announced that it has been named experience agency of record (AOR) for Blink Fitness, a premium-quality, value-based gym. The win followed a review.

Los Angeles-based indie creative agency David&Goliath (D&G) has been named agency of record for seafood brand Chicken of the Sea International. The agency will be tasked with helping to reintroduce and revitalize the long-standing seafood brand to US consumers.

Colle McVoy has been named agency of record for Children’s Health, the eighth-largest pediatric health care provider in the nation and the leading pediatric health care system in North Texas. The scope includes strategic planning, creative, media planning and buying, content planning and development, social marketing and digital marketing.

Launches

Publicis Groupe Australia has rolled out the local chapter of the group’s global VivaWomen! initiative, which aims to drive real outcomes for women in the network.

Bloomberg has launched a set of display ad formats that it describes as ‘high-impact’ and cross-screen but only require very basic assets from advertisers.

Reuters has unveiled a personalised news app targeted toward business professionals which it says will help companies make more informed decisions.

Mergers

SEO agency Branded3 has merged under the brand of fellow St Ives Group marketing company Edit to form a single, 265-strong agency across Bath, Leeds and London.

Ones to watch

Proctor & Gamble's (P&G) cull of its advertising and production costs look set to continue after chief executive, David Taylor, warned that it sees “more saving potentials in these areas” in the coming years.
