Kargo has opened its doors in Sydney’s Surry Hills, appointing media heavyweight Robert Leach as general manager, Asia Pacific.

Leach joins from BBC Worldwide where he was director of strategy, business development and digital, he previously headed up Foxtel’s MCN Connect and prior to that he spent 9 years at BSkyB, where he was head of interactive services.

Leach will be supported by Peter Birch, commercial director, Asia Pacific and Rob Williams, operations director, Asia Pacific.

Birch joins Kargo from mobile marketing company 1st Screen where he was managing director, prior to this he was head of digital at Network Ten and head of interactive sales at ITV.

Williams joins from BBC Worldwide, where he was head of consumer digital, wholesale and retail.

The Sydney office is the latest move in the company's international expansion strategy, after launching its first international office in Europe last year. Kargo aims to double its APAC workforce by the end of the year to take advantage of the region’s high mobile ad spend.

Asia Pacific is the leading region in terms of mobile penetration and the fastest growing mobile ad spend.

Kargo has offices in the UK and US and works with clients such as Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Verizon and L’Oreal.
