Twitter is on the hunt for its first ever UK head of consumer marketing having undergone a management reshuffle which has seen UK managing director Bruce Daisley’s role extend to Europe.

The management revamp has been triggered by vice president in Europe for Sales Ali Jafari’s planned return to the mirco-blogging platform’s San Francisco headquarters in June.

Stephen McIntyre, currently director of Online Sales EMEA, will take over as vice president of online and reseller sales for Europe, while Daisley will be vice president of Direct sales for Europe. He will also remain as UK managing director.

Daisley told The Drum: “I’m happy to be taking over Europe with the UK in great shape. We're just looking for the first head of consumer marketing for UK and we've got an exciting year ahead".

The transition has begun and will continue until June when Jafari returns to San Francisco.

Last year Daisley won Individual of the Year at The Drum's Social Buzz Awards. He became managing director of the UK in 2013 as the site hit 15 million active users in the UK.

At the time, the newly created role of UK MD coincided with former UK general manager Tony Wang's return to the US.

Twitter operates in 34 countries in Europe, but does not break out its European advertising revenue figures.

The micro-blogging network accounted for 0.84 per cent of digital advertising globally in 2014, as digital ad spend increased to $146.4 billion, according to eMarketer. That figure rose from 0/49 per cent in 2013, and in comparison Facebook increased its own share of the global digital ad market from 5.75 per cent in 2013 to 7.75 per cent in 2014, according to eMarketer.
