The short film weaves together material from the broadcaster’s archive to highlight the passion, creativity and resilience of British soccer supporters.

In a new BBC Sport ad created by its in-house team, viewers see portraits of fans taken by Hy Money, the first female football photographer, as well as photography from Michael Kirkham. The spot features textile artists Diana Al Shammari and Jacqui McAssey, plus a flag created in collaboration with artist Corbin Shaw.

There are also appearances from football megafans such as West Ham supporter and internet sensation Abel Farey, as well as Jawahir Roble who was awarded an MBE for her services to football.

The minute-long spot was directed by Lisette Donkersloot, produced with Caviar Productions and edited by OkayStudio and Stitch.

It will run across BBC’s own channels.
