Ad of the Day: Quorn chief mom officer Drew Barrymore frolics with feathered BFF
American actor Drew Barrymore has showcased her charisma and warmth in a cheeky spot for meat-free brand Quorn, directed by Dan Opsal of Hungry Man Productions.
‘Best Friends’ sees the Never Been Kissed actor’s fun-filled day with her BFF ‘Chiqin,’ who is a larger-than-life chicken. Together the duo play dress up in vintage attire, feed each other Quorn nuggets, read glossy magazines and playfully dance around the living room, before closing with the tagline, “because you wouldn’t eat your best friend.”

The film is shot in the style of a 70s cinefilm home movie and is soundtracked by an upbeat tune with the lyrics: “you’re my best friend, I’m alive when I’m with you.” For Quorn fanatics, there are also a few Easter eggs dotted throughout, including a photo of Quorn founder and Mycoprotein inventor Lord Rank.

It is a collaborative effort between Barrymore, Quorn and Opsal – who is known for his work on late-night talk show The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
“From our first conversation with Drew, it was evident that she was the right partner for our brand due to her familiarity with the product,” said Quorn’s president Judd Zusel.
“Beyond that, she embodies the spirit of our current consumers and we see the potential for her to inspire our current and future business ventures. We are excited for her to lend her culinary, creative and business expertise to the brand, as well as her experience as a consumer and mom.”
Noting that she hasn’t eaten chicken in a decade, Barrymore is the perfect choice for the campaign and has even taken on the role of ‘chief mom officer’ for the plant-based brand.
“This partnership is very personal for me. As a mom of two daughters, I know the importance of having affordable, easily accessible and delicious options that I feel good about serving my kids. I love this brand because the integrity of its mission truly motivates me and I’m honored to be joining as chief mom officer,” said Barrymore. “I’m so excited to work closely with the Quorn USA team.”
The campaign will be amplified across social, streaming and digital channels.
