Dutch digital network Dept acquires US data software company Raybeam
European digital network Dept has added another business to its agency roster, with the acquisition of US data science firm Raybeam.
DS Anderson Song, the founder of Raybeam. Dept has acquired the agency for an undisclosed sum
Consultancy Palazzo advised Raybeam during the transaction.
Why has Dept invested in Raybeam?
-
Raybeam specializes in building proprietary software and platforms for search engine optimization (SEO) and data warehousing, and offers both off-the-shelf products and bespoke solutions.
-
Being able to monitor the data associated with SEO and other marketing channels is essential to most modern businesses. Increasing its capabilities in this area will help Dept offer a deeper service to clients.
-
DS Anderson Song, co-founder at Raybeam, said: “Data has always been a powerful tool for businesses, but now it’s simply an indispensable one. We believe in helping clients use data to their advantage in a sustainable, practical and ethical way, and Dept shares this same belief. We’re excited to bring our domain expertise and first-rate engineering team to Dept to expand into new markets around the world and to help even more companies solve complex data challenges.”
-
Raybeam will bed in with Dept’s other US footholds, namely Rocket Insights and Devetry.
Why now?
-
Dept is not the only agency looking to beef up its data capabilities in 2022. Earlier today S4 Capital announced the acquisition of 4 Mile Analytics, while Publicis Groupe acquired a Romanian software firm last week.
-
Dimi Albers, chief executive officer of Dept, said: “We want to help all of our clients make better-informed, smarter decisions faster. Data and tech play a huge role in that, and Raybeam brings more than 20 years of world-class experience in helping clients solve complex data challenges with highly-customized solutions.
-
“By working even stronger together on shared clients like eBay, Herman Miller and Moody’s, and bundling their expertise with our existing teams in the US and around the world, Raybeam will further accelerate our global data, intelligence, technology and engineering practices.”
-
During the last two years, Dept has expanded rapidly to form a network of challenger agencies in the US and western Europe.
-
Dept now has offices in 25 countries and 2,500 staff. Its clients include Netflix, Bose, Patagonia and Asos.
