Sky is seeking to lift spirits this Christmas by enlisting the animated cast of family favorite film Sing to promote its services over the holiday.

Landing ahead of the theatrical debut of Sing 2 this January, the vocal video has been created in partnership with Universal/Illumination and directed by Sing director Garth Jennings.

Following nurse Angie’s attempts to make it home from work in time to snuggle up to the Moon Theater Christmas special with her family, the campaign illustrates the lengths people will go to be with loved ones.

Lyssa McGowan, chief consumer officer at Sky UK, said: “Bringing families together through world-class entertainment and world-class products is in the Sky DNA. Telling a Christmas story with the Sing characters this year brings that to life in a heartwarming and festive way that you can’t resist singing along to.”

Chris Meledandri, Illumination founder and chief executive officer, added: “With Sing 2 director Garth Jennings at the helm, the content introduces a brand-new character who unexpectedly finds themselves expressing themselves creatively through song. It’s an honor to be able to remind people of the power of being together this Christmas through the world of Sing 2 and our characters.”

Following its UK debut today, the ad will run across the full suite of Sky platforms as well as in cinemas. It also dovetails with an augmented reality (AR) Christmas card experience in select retail stores, where customers can create and share animated gif greetings cards, created in partnership with C-screens, Virgin Radio and The O2.
