High street bar All Bar One has launched a green initiative, with the release of its sustainable beer and cider range.

This marks the chain's second eco menu, this time coined as All the Better with Beer, and its commitment to venture into more eco-friendly drinks.

Earlier this month, the brand held a live activation outside the bar in Leicester Square. Commuters leaving the station saw green men and women sipping the sustainable brew, cheering and toasting in merriment.

Featuring moss models and life size topiary statues, the experience aimed to raise awareness about the health of the planet.

Four beer brands participated in the activation. Brewgooder, the award-winning craft ale manufacturers, donated 100% of their profits to fund clean drinking water projects. They aim to provide a million people with clean drinking water by 2025. Beer brand Corona Extra has committed to cleaning up one million square metres of the UK's coastline, while British favourite Camden Hells Lager has opened up an eco-friendly brewery in North London and also allows local farmers to use the spent grain from the brewing process for their cattle feed. Toast Ale is also utilising their bread waste to create ale, with all profits going to charity.

Whereas three cider brands got involved, with Pip and Wild planning to reduce the amount of waste that goes to the landfill and set it at zero. British brand, Mortimers Orchid Cider, only uses English apples which grow within 50 miles of the mills, so the product travels less than if international apples were used. While Old Mout Cider has committed to using 100% recycled packaging, teaming up with WWF to protect 500k acres of global habitats.

Laura Clarke, Senior marketing manager from All Bar One said: “While taste is an incredibly important factor for our customers when choosing a beer or cider, they also want to know where it’s come from and how it’s been produced.

"Now more than ever our customers are actively looking for brands that seek to make a positive impact on the world – whether that’s finding a way to reduce plastic, decrease waste or provide clean water for communities. With that in mind, we’ve decided to launch a new dedicated menu of sustainable beers and ciders to help our customers support a more sustainable future.”

All Bar One will offer any customers who select three beers of ciders from the sustainable menu will receive free nachos every Thursday. The new range is being rolled out nationwide, although Camden Hells Lager will not be available in Scotland. Find out more about the initiative here.
