The Swedish 'pay later' service, Klarna has launched its first international campaign – ‘I wish I’d bought it with Klarna’ – with the internet sensation Celesta Barber as its leading lady.

'I wish I'd bought it with Klarna' is a three-part series that seeks inspiration from home-shopping TV shows. Barber – who became famous for mocking unattainment model shots – is the theatrical host.

Created by 72andSunny Amsterdam, in each video, Barber comically addresses some unfortunate shopping fails – from miniature garden furniture to Sue Ellen’s woeful hair curler to an unfortunately see-through wedding dress.

After presenting each shopping mishap, she tells viewers how Klarna's 'pay later' option can help them avoid blunders.

The series of films will run on Klarna and Celeste Barber’s Instagram and YouTube channels, with shorter versions and bespoke six-second clips running as placements in countries including the UK, US, the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden. The campaign is in partnership with Refinery29.

Discussing the work, David Sandstrom, chief marketing officer at Klarna, said: “Klarna prides itself on being both innovative and smooth, and our campaign with Celeste Barber couldn’t be a more perfect collaboration to present payment empowerment and the convenience of our Pay Later products to consumers.

"Celeste brilliantly captures the message of Pay Later and playfully demonstrates how shopping with Klarna can empower any buyer to shop confidently. It’s fun, quirky but most of all it makes us smile, and we’re excited to see how this resonates amongst consumers."
