Pluto TV launches Spongebob Squarepants and MTV The Hills pop-up channels

Pluto TV launched in Germany and Austria in December of 2018. The platform offers linear channels that can be streamed free of charge without a subscription.

Now the retro pop-ups are placed to mark the 20th anniversary of the wacky Nickelodeon figurehead as well as the impending German premiere of The Hills New Beginnings and dovetail with a channel devoted solely to MTV’s Teen Mum, which is already available.

As part of Viacom, it can draw from the media giant's entertainment brand portfolio. Both stations will serve to augment PlutoTV’s existing offer in the region by bringing popular Nickelodeon and MTV content to broader audiences by surfacing classic episodes from both shows.

Pluto TV Europe MD Olivier Jollet remarked: “We are celebrating two major series events with The Hills and SpongeBob SquarePants coming to Pluto TV. Both hit shows are truly an asset to our line-up, with their fascinating and inspiring charm appealing to our audiences’ nostalgia, serving the perfect mix to binge-watch.”

A third channel called Teen Mom will launch at a later date.

Pluto TV launched in Germany and Austrian back in December 2018 before being purchased by Viacom at the start of the year.
