Client wins and ‘speed’ give S4 Capital Q1 boost

Sir Martin Sorrell’s S4 Capital has reported strong growth in a trading update for the first quarter, with gross profits rising 37% courtesy of increased sales.

The advertising company reported further good news with gross profits jumping to £32.8m over the first three months as sales rose in excess of 38% to reach £40.9m, signing off its surging spreadsheets with a jump in like-for-like revenues and gross profits of 35% and 34% respectively.

Sorrell said: “Client interest in, response to and engagement with the group’s first-party data model, driving and fueling digital content creation and programmatic media planning and buying, have escalated in the new year.

“Speed in all senses of the word is becoming a crucial competitive advantage and differentiator and we don’t have to set up an institute to learn that. We just listen.”

Avon became S4’s most recent client win in February when it was appointed by MediaMonks to run a digital content hub.

In its third quarter results last year S4 reported revenue growth of £26.2m and and £18.3m rise in gross profits.
