HSBC is highlighting the small businesses of Hong Kong in its 2019 campaign for Hong Kong Sevens by flying a connected ball around town.

HSBC has partnered with ad agency Grey Hong Kong and Insight Robotics to create a connected rugby ball that will fly to businesses in Hong Kong and allow them to pitch themselves into a camera on the ball.

Rex Sham, the founder of Insight Robotics, said: “There are cameras mounted on the sides of the official game ball and the ball was passed around Hong Kong. I’m happy to be part of such a fun project which also shows how supportive HSBC is of innovative businesses and startups.”

A video collating the stories has been created and will be shown on TV and social media, while activity will also be focused around the stadium before and after the tournament. Shorter videos depicting soundbites from the pitches will be shared across social media.

The Hong Kong Rugby Sevens is a major annual tournament in the rugby calendar and HSBC has been a long-time sponsor of the event.
