Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) has expanded the scope of Dentsu X in China and tapped Michael Zhang to lead the operations in a newly created role as chief executive officer.

Dentsu X China will now operate in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou with a team of over 400. It will include the operations of another Dentsu agency called Brand &c, which specializes in interactive marketing strategy, e-commerce, mobile, ePR, and social media.

Zhang will report into Michelle Lau, chief executive of Dentsu Aegis Network China, which is part of DAN’s Greater North cluster, which includes Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.

“Dentsu X in China has seen exceptional growth over the past three years, expanding by 63%. This has been driven by the ability to create integrated, seamless solutions for clients in China,” said Mitsuyuki Nakamura, the global president of Dentsu X.

“The newly expanded team and leadership further reinforces dentsu X’s ability to provide innovative client centric marketing services that attract, acquire, convert, and crucially, retain customers.”

DAN also announced yesterday that Audrey Kuah has taken on the role of executive director of media business for Asia Pacific at Dentsu Aegis Network, on top of her current responsibilities as managing director of the network’s Global Data Innovation Centre.
