Zenith names Publicis Media's Matt James as global brand president

Zenith has appointed Publicis Media's Australia and New Zealand chief Matt James as global brand president. From this month, he takes up the role in Zenith's London headquarters.

James started his career with Publicis Groupe in 2010 / Zenith

Vittorio Bonori vacated the role after joining Publicis Groupe Italy as chief executive. On the other hand, James joins from Publicis Media where he was chief executive for Australia and New Zealand. He is credited with delivering "significant growth" and attracting clients such as P&G, Aldi, Campbell Arnott’s, and Kraft Heinz.

James started his career with Publicis Groupe in 2010 as managing director of Starcom UK, before joining Nine Entertainment. In 2015 he returned to Publicis Groupe as chief executive. The ANZ position remains vacant.

Publicis Media chief, Steve King, who James reports to, said: “Matt is a highly respected agency leader, who has worked in London, Paris and Sydney and been at the forefront of driving growth for many of the world’s leading brands. He has achieved considerable success during his time at Publicis Media and I know that he will now take Zenith from strength to strength.”

James added: “I am hugely excited to be taking on the leadership role at Zenith. The network celebrated its 30th anniversary this year and is a recognised industry leader with its ROI agency positioning and development in data and technology, experience planning and machine learning.”

In 2018, Zenith welcomed numerous new clients including Clas Ohlson Costa, Didi Chuxing, Electrolux, Lactalis and Once.

King recently participated in The Drum's 10 questions series, offering insight into his history, routines and motivations.
