Hero Digital has appointed its first chief marketing officer in Kenneth Parks, who previously served in the same role at Dentsu Aegis Network.

As the agency’s chief marketer, Parks will oversee its brand strategy, marketing and sales enablement. He’ll report directly to Hero Digital co-founder and chief executive David Kilimnik.

Parks is out at Dentsu Aegis Network after less than a year. He was previously responsible for setting the company's brand and go-to-market strategies. He's not the only one to leave after a brief stint at the network. Dentsu Aegis’ executive chairman for the UK and Ireland, Stef Calcraft, is leaving the agency group less than a year after he joined.

Prior to Dentsu Aegis Network, Parks was chief marketer at Digitas, part of Publicis Groupe.

“I have deep experience in brand, big data, and marketing cloud technologies,” Parks told The Drum. “This allows me to reimagine the Hero client marketing experience from engagement to transaction and loyalty — bridging brand, marketing, and sales for Hero.

“Hero Digital is a young disrupter in the marketplace, so my first priority is to create a Hero brand DNA that captures that energy and informs how the Hero brand looks, feels, and acts.”

Earlier this year, Hero Digital was named one of Inc’s hottest companies and has been experiencing rapid growth.

That growth includes the recent acquisition of Clock Four, a digital innovation agency.

“A lot of clients don't believe the big legacy agencies project the future,” said Parks. “The opportunity with Hero Digital is to provide future CMOs with a truly modern CX agency solution that is born in Silicon Valley, not Madison Avenue. Clients want what Hero offers: a customer experience led agency that bridges strategy, design, and execution.”

Kilimnik pointed out that Park’s background and experience are a perfect fit for reaching Hero Digital’s growth goals.

"We’re at a pivotal point in our business where having a CMO of Kenneth’s caliber with an extensive background within our industry is vital to our continued growth,” Kilimnik said in an announcement. “His decades of experience in big data, customer experience, and marketing cloud technologies make him an ideal leader to help accelerate our goal of becoming the leading independent customer experience agency for CMOs.”
