On the heels of winning four 2018 Creative Arts Emmys, Hulu is taking its advertising to the next level. The streaming company’s ‘Better Ruins Everything’ brand campaign stars many of today’s biggest names in TV and sports, all warning viewers not to get Hulu.

Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello for Hulu

The warning by these stars sounds first like a public service announcement, one that has dire consequences. The warning is that if you watch TV on Hulu, or fly first class or add bacon to your favorite burger – there’s no going back to the old way of doing things.

The talent featured in the launch spot represents Hulu’s diverse offering of hit TV series and films, Hulu Originals and live sports including real-life couple Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) and Joe Manganiello (Justice League), sports superstars James Harden (Houston Rockets) and Jared Goff (LA Rams), Emmy Award winner Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale), Sarah Silverman (Hulu’s I Love You, America), Ramy Youssef (of the upcoming Hulu Original Ramy) and Miles Brown (Black-ish).

The campaign supports Hulu’s full suite of live and on-demand streaming TV plans and is comprised of nine national TV spots including several fifteen and 30-second spots.

The 60-second launch spot will debut during the 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards and also during the network’s Red Carpet special preceding the awards show. The ‘Better Ruins Everything’ campaign runs through the end of the year and includes digital video, online banners, out of home billboards in select markets including New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas and Chicago and social media efforts.
