Paris-based tech consultancy Capgemini has launched a new global innovation business line called Capgemini Invent.

Capgemini launches its Invent innovation studio, adding Airbus to its list of client partners.

The new offering has been focused on helping business leaders build their companies towards their future. It combines assets from Capgemini Consulting, as well as staffers from its technology and data science disciplines. Recent acquisitions, including innovation consultancy Fahrenheit 212, customer engagement firm Liquidhub, and design houses Idean, Adaptive Lab and Backelite have all been folded into Capgemini Invent.

The new business line has been made up of over 6,000 staffers worldwide, situated in more than 30 offices and 10 creative studios.

Paul Hermelin, chairman and chief executive officer of Capgemini Group said in a statement: “We have built Capgemini Invent to meet increasing client demand for our advanced digital services. This integrated global business line combines perfectly our specialist capabilities and expertise that are needed to design, create and trial new digital solutions and business models of the future, all supported by the recognized strengths of the Group to implement them at speed and scale.”

Cyril Garcia, who was named chief of Capgemini Invent said: “Capgemini Invent offers a new model for digital transformation delivery, bringing key sector expertise together with a broad cross-section of disciplines, from strategy and technology to data science and creative design. It also engages with its growing innovation eco-system of partners and start-ups to benefit digital projects. Working in close collaboration with our clients, Capgemini Invent applies a spirit of innovation to bring to life ‘what’s next’; orchestrating meaningful change across every facet of their business in an agile way to drive continuous growth.”

One example of the group’s recent work has been with Airbus on its ‘skywise’ digital aviation data platform. Skywise has been made as a single platform of reference used by all major aviation players that work with Airbus to improve operational performance and business results.

Stephane Bronoff, Airbus’ connectivity enterprise architect said: “Throughout our journey to design and implement our innovative global skywise.connect platform, Capgemini has been a trusted partner, providing robust telecom expertise to shape our connectivity vision and supporting us in the operational phases of minimum viable product (MVP) and implementation leading to the commercial entry in service.”

This new function of Capgemini has set six integrated practices to help address its clients internal and external-facing needs: innovation and strategy, customer engagement, future of technology, insight-driven enterprise, operations transformation and people and organization. Capgemini can now add its name to the list of management consultancies looking to disrupt Madison Avenue from the outside, in what has been a busy year for rivals Accenture, Deloitte, Infosys and others.
