Media agency Carat has created two new client managing director positions within its senior leadership team.

Carat

Carat's Grant Burke and Kim James

Kim James is moving across the Dentsu Aegis Network to lead the Diageo portfolio and Grant Burke has been promoted to handle the Wickes and Debenhams accounts.

James was previously chief client officer for Amplifi, the group's investment division, while Grant has served at Carat for a decade and was formerly group client director.

Carat told The Drum that on levels of seniority, the client MD role sits just below chief executive and chief strategy officer in the business.

The client MDs have access to talent all across the Dentsu Aegis Network including Carat, iProspect and Amplifi. Each new hire will manage clients on a day-to-day basis to deliver greater agility in the decision-making process.

Jo Sutherland, chief executive officer Carat UK, said: “Both Grant and Kim are best-in-class at understanding client’s challenges, making the complex simple and championing innovative, effective solutions. They are proven leaders and we are delighted to have their expertise at Carat.”

With the introduction of the roles, the managing director role has been retired.

The changes come as the wider Dentsu organisation reveals it is considering a restructure.
