Campbell Soup chief executive Denise Morrison is retiring from her role, which she’s held since 2011. Her retirement is effective immediately.

Keith McLoughlin, a member of the company’s board since 2016, has been named interim chief executive, and according to Campbell Soup, he will remain a member of the board “to facilitate an orderly transition in management.” McLoughlin previously served as chief executive and president of Electrolux AB, a global home appliance manufacturer.

Luca Mignini, who was named chief operating officer of Campbell Soup earlier this year, will be tasked with focusing on the integration of recently-acquired Snyder’s-Lance and Pacific Foods and stabilizing the company’s US soup business.

Morrison’s departure comes as Campbell Soup struggles to find its way as consumers become increasingly wary of packaged foods rife with preservatives and artificial flavors. The company said in its third-quarter earnings report that it’s lowering its fiscal outlook for the year. The soup maker, which posted a $393m earnings loss for its third quarter, also plans to review its portfolio of brands.

Since Morrison took the helm in 2011, the company has acquired companies including Bolthouse Farms, Pacific Foods and Garden Fresh Gourmet in an effort to offer consumers healthier fare. But the acquisitions have failed to pull the New Jersey-based company out of a three-year sales slump.

Earlier this year, Campbell Soup completed its acquisition of Snyder’s-Lance, maker of brands including Kettle chips and Pop Secret popcorn. The move has helped Campbell Soup, which owns Goldfish maker Pepperidge Farm, further break into the thriving salty snack category.

“I am proud of Campbell’s accomplishments and how we have transformed our portfolio amid changing consumer tastes for food and health and well-being,” said Morrison in a statement. “It has been an honor to lead this iconic company and exceptional team, and I am confident that Campbell will enjoy continued success for many years to come.”

Les C. Vinney, chairman of the board, added: “Denise has been a passionate advocate and leader over her 15 years with the company. She has made many important contributions over the past seven years as chief executive officer to reposition Campbell in the rapidly changing food industry. Denise has been able to significantly transform Campbell’s portfolio into the faster-growing snacking category with the acquisition of Snyder’s-Lance and increased the company’s focus on health and well-being with brands like Pacific Foods. Her actions have helped to enhance the long-term growth potential of Campbell.”
