FCB has named Joerg Hempelmann as the first president of FCB Health Europe in a newly created role which aims to create a global business model.
Hempelmann will direct all European operations, including overseeing ICC, one of the two full-service UK-based healthcare agencies, the other being FCB Halesway.
According to the company's statement, he will provide an integrated team approach, enhance payer strategy, medical education, digital marketing efforts and video production offerings, as well as strategic planning and media services.
Prior to this, Hempelmann served as chief executive office (CEO) and managing partner of McCann Health Germany. In 1994, Hempelmann founded JNB as a healthcare communications agency near Frankfurt, Germany, and built additional healthcare-related services such as sales forces (GPs, specialists, pharmacists) and healthcare websites and platforms. Hempelmann sold his agency to the IPG network.
Hempelmann said: “I look forward to discovering what’s next in healthcare for FCB Health and getting the opportunity to think outside the box to provide excellence across the board. I am eager to work with new clients and build long-lasting relationships with them, as well as to create a connected worldwide community of innovative healthcare experts.”
FCB Health president and CEO Dana Maiman said: “Joerg’s reputation precedes him. He is a well-known and respected industry leader and this new role is a progressive next step to delivering the best-in-class service to our clients. I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with Joerg on many successful shared businesses and holding company consolidations and I am happy to make this union official. With Joerg on our team, the best is yet to come.”
