Vice UK has teamed up with Panasonic Lumix to launch Vice Film School, a multimedia platform and talent programme designed to promote emerging documentary filmmakers.

Filmschool.vice.com is intended to unearth new talent and accelerate their development. The initiative will be built around a dedicated website offering how-to advice on all aspects of the filmmaking process.

As part of this agenda the platform will offer original editorial and video strands which will lift the lid on some of Vice UK’s own content, including practical advice and personal perspectives from all tiers of the production process.

Adam Bracegirdle, creative director for Vice UK said: “Vice is one of the last bastions of authentic storytelling in the digital medium, and in the eyes of young people, we’re leading the evolution of the documentary format. That’s why we’re thrilled to be partnering with Panasonic Lumix, makers of the next generation of camera technology, to educate and recruit the UK’s next bright talents in factual film.

“Working with a collection of Vice’s best filmmakers and talent, Vice Film School reinforces our dedication to vital storytelling and supporting the creators who will push boundaries and break new ground in documentary filmmaking."

As part of the collaboration members of the public are being invited to participate in the WonderVisions talent programme which will offer a £15,000 production budget for the best short film submission.

Vice recently agreed to a partnership with the NBA that will see the pair collaborate on original basketball content.
