Borussia Dortmund is expanding its footprints in Asia Pacific through a new partnership with Bangkok Airways.
The partnership will see the eight-time Bundesliga champions hold advertising and promotional campaigns with the Thai airline around Southeast Asia, and in China and Hong Kong.
Bangkok Airways will be also the German club’s airline partner in the region and help promote the club's presence with past and current players appearances. It will also be allowed to use BVB’s club and players images on its planes and in its airport bases in Koh Samui, Trat and Sukhothai in Thailand.
“With its strong global brand presence and a huge fan base, we believe that to partner with Borussia Dortmund will strengthen Bangkok Airways’ brand image as Asia’s Boutique Airline as well as make the airline better known across Asia and Europe which are our main customer bases,” said Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, president of Bangkok Airways.
European football is extremely popular in APAC, with the English Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga gaining the most popularity. Bundesliga is also the most popular football league in China, according to the 2017 Red Card Report by Mailman.
