Fashion platform Clique, which owns fashion blog Who What Wear and created clothing and shoe line of the same name for Target stores, hired Marc Rothschild as its new president and chief operating officer.
Clique which is also the parent company of fashion and lifestyle sites MyDomaine, Byrdie, CollegeFashionista, The/Thirty, and Obsessee. Who What Wear and activewear Joylab, both created by Clique, are sold exclusively at Target. Clique made the announcement today (February 21). Rothschild will be based in the company’s New York City offices and has oversight of the east coast part of the business.
In a statement, Clique said that “as Clique continues to be on the forefront of leveraging its traditional publishing business and incredible house of brands to become a multi-dimensional media company and continue to launch digitally-led consumer brands, Rothschild’s appointment will help bridge the frontier to new business growth across various initiatives.”
Prior to joining Clique, Rothschild most recently served as the senior vice president of Meredith Digital in charge of company’s digital revenue. Before that, Rothschild held senior leadership roles at AOL, Phorm, and Selectable Media, which he co-founded.
In this new role, Rothschild has been tasked with leading the publishing and media side of the business, as well as working with Clique co-founder and chief executive Katherine Power with shaping, implementing and executing the strategy and vision of the company.
“With a proven background in leading media companies to new revenue streams, Marc is an exemplary addition to our team,” said Katherine Power. "I have had an eye out for the perfect candidate for this role for many years. I’ve been looking for someone who is able to recognize the very special market position our company is in. I believe I have found this in Marc and am excited by his entrepreneurial spirit and fresh outlook on the business. I think he will have a great impact on our company and be a fantastic fit for our culture.”
Rothschild added, “I’m thrilled to be joining Clique at this point in their trajectory. Katherine and team have not only built a house of successful, trusted and well-known brands in the beauty, fashion, retail and wellness space but also have cracked the code on leveraging data and community to drive product ideation and deliver those products to consumers through retail partnerships and distribution to their own digital audience. I’ve had the opportunity to understand many businesses serving women while at Meredith. As publishers and media companies look to supplement advertising revenue through alternative synergistic revenue streams, I believe Clique is sufficiently advanced and unique in its execution in this regard and I cannot wait to join the team.”
