YouTube Re:View: Oprah for President?

Youtube Re:View

Happy New Year. It’s 2018. The start of a new year and with that comes the inevitable flood of new year resolutions for that fresh start and a retrospective contemplation. The first in our series of our weekly listings — YouTube Re:View — reflects just that. A desire for change, a celebration of storytelling, and also our constant need for humour and nostalgia. Precisely what UK is loving on YouTube this week. Here is a round up of the very first of our weekly. From Bruno Mars to Oprah to lively lemurs to ABBA to Meryl Streep and Forrest Gump — this has it all. Enjoy!

A new day is on the horizon

As the first black woman to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes, Oprah Winfrey wowed not just the Hollywood fraternity with her emotional yet eloquent acceptance speech for equality but it lit up social media — prompting a call for Winfrey to run for president in 2020. The politically charged Golden Globes ceremony was galvanised when Oprah spoke these words: “I want all the girls watching here and now to know that a new day is on the horizon.” Donald the disruptor might just be watching this space!

Get Forrest Gump and Miranda Priestly in a room together……

(View count - 2,174,830)*

From Oprah Winfrey to Meryl Streep to Tom Hanks. Let’s continue to talk about stars that always bring us joy. On YouTube Original favourite, The Ellen Show, Streep and Hanks, played each other's iconic roles. Streep as Gump and Hanks as the icy Priestly in Devil Wears Prada — and we just cannot look away.

Here We Go Again

Drenched in ABBA, the first trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to 2008's Mamma Mia is out. And we can’t get enough of it. Returning to our screens later this summer, Mamma Mia 2 will force the ABBA geek out of all of us.

Lemurs vs Journalist

A few chuckles to kick-start the weekend. What better way to get that Friday feeling rolling? And if you add in a few cute looking lemurs. Just perfect! A BBC journalist was trying to report at Banham Zoo in Norfolk when he was swamped by eight of the creatures.

Ready for the sound of 2018?

Is there anything better that 90s nostalgia? The hair, the fashion, the music. Welcome back the funky 90s with Bruno Mars and Cardi B finest ‘Finesse’ in their latest music video. Inspired by popular '90s sketch show, In Living Color, the video racked up over 50 million views in one week. It might be 90s nostalgia, but at this rate it could be on its way to becoming the sound of 2018. Next, can we bring back What’s the 411?
