Ahead of the adult animated spy sitcom's eighth season, fans can start seeking out clues for episodes before its premier on 5 April by pointing the app at various locations and publications.

This follows FX's recent promotion of the latest season of its dark comedy ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’, which shot a virtual reality-ready 360 video that plays out just like an episode of the show.

Once Archer: Dreamland hits FXX, the multi platform augmented reality app will encourage fans to interact with the show on screen and with real world objects to win prizes as well as solve cases.

FX Networks explained in a statement: “During all-new episodes of Archer: Dreamland, use your iPhone/iPad camera to point at designated targets on screen, and watch them come to life with new clues that will help you solve the case.

“And continue sleuthing during the week by finding additional clues that are hiding in ‘real world’ places like Archer billboards, TV commercials, the Archer Facebook page, and FXNetworks.com”

The Archer, P.I. app is currently available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and coming soon to the Amazon App Store.
