Clash of Kings tackles German CPI costs with ReFuel4

Elex, developer of hit mobile game Clash of Kings, has lowered its Cost Per Installation (CPI) costs in Germany by more than 40% by increasing the volume and refresh rate of its creative with ReFuel4.

Awarded Facebook’s 2015 Game of the Year, Clash of Kings is a cross-platform real-time strategy game with more than 50 million players worldwide across web and mobile.

Elex approached ReFuel4 to help lower the CPI in the German marketplace for Clash of Kings’ mobile app installs, which had begun to creep upwards. Having invested in a TV commercial previously, the Elex team lacked the resources and skills in-house to repurpose the ad for online use.

Vernon Vasu, co-founder and chief marketing officer of ReFuel4, said: “We worked with the Elex team to create videos using Clash of King’s TVC and gameplay assets, submitted by our global pool of 10,000 designers. Our proprietary AI-backed machine learning SHAKA Engine picked the top 50% of submitted ads and ranked each according to predicted ad performance.

“With sufficient creatives for campaign testing and optimization, Elex’s underperforming Facebook ads were automatically detected and swapped with new ones to maintain optimal campaign performance. Our designers were prompted to produce more ads whenever creative performance drop was detected. This allowed Elex’s Clash of Kings campaign to continuously perform at an optimal rate.”
