Facebook shareholders to decide on Mark Zuckerberg’s majority control
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s continued majority control of the social network is in question ahead of an annual shareholder meeting to agree voting weights.
Top executives will gather in Silicon Valley to debate a series of management changes as well as offering updates as to the current performance of the business.
Up for discussion will be a proposed new stock structure in light of Zuckerberg’s intentions to sell off shares over the coming years to fund a variety of philanthropic causes, prompting a vote over whether to grant Zuckerberg continued majority control.
Current controversies are also likely to get an airing, including a storm surrounding board member Peter Thiel following revelations that he had personally funded a series of lawsuits against Gawker Media in an apparent vendetta.
