Porn Hub users go ‘hands solo’ for Star Wars-themed porn as site reports massive spike in traffic

The gargantuan impact which Star Wars: The Force Awakens has had across popular culture is unsurprising given the iconic status of the series and Disney's extensive marketing campaign for the new film. However there is one realm of the internet which has somewhat unexpectedly experienced an ‘awakening’ as a result; porn.

Porn Hub has announced that its Star Wars-themed porn videos have undergone a massive surge in popularity in the last week as fans of the series struggle to contain their excitement for J.J Abrams’ take on the world.

The force was already strong with the 'Star Wars' search term on the site, surging 2.5 times following the official trailer release on 19 October. The days leading up to and after the 18 December release, however, were remarkable as Star Wars related searches went through the roof (an acceleration only comparable to the millennium falcon’s light speed), increasing 1854 per cent above average daily search volumes.

The figures were released by Metro US which has teamed up with Porn Hub to conduct an ongoing study into America’s porn preferences. The following chart lays out the most popular related Star Wars search terms.

The most popular character searched was “Princess Leia” who is played by pornstar, Allie Haze, in a well-known XXX parody, resulting in her name landing on the search list. Other aspects of the series which porn fans were keen to explore were lightsabers and Darth Vader’s willy.
