The Drum wins Media Brand of the Year and Best Event at PPA Independent Publisher Awards

The Drum has been named Media Brand of the Year at the PPA's Independent Publisher Awards, with the title's The Drum Live event also scooping the Event of the Year award.

Taking place annually, the Independent Publisher Conference and Awards celebrate the success of standalone titles with a turnover of under £10m.

The Drum Live, which was this year expanded into Do it Day, saw the editorial team pull together an issue of the magazine in just one day with the help of delegates.

Commenting on the wins, editor Stephen Lepitak said: "It's tremendous to be named Media Brand of the Year and to win Event of the Year for The Drum Live at the PPA Independent Publishing Awards. It justifies the hard work put in across the whole of The Drum team to bring the best content and events to the media and marketing sector around the world."

The judges praised The Drum's "incredible achievements over the last 12 months," including the publisher's global expansion.

The trophies are the latest addition to The Drum's burgeoning trophy cabinet. In 2015 it picked up the following awards: British Media Awards 2015 Content Team of the Year (Bronze); AOP Awards 2015 Editorial Team of the Year (B2B) and PPA Awards 2015 Event of the Year for The Drum Live.

Having expanded into New York at the start of 2015, The Drum recently announced plans to extend its coverage into the APAC region and hired Charlotte McEleny as Asia editor.
